Hi,

Only to know how can I increase the accuracy
of GPSs.

Perhaps I need to use 2 or more GPSs and taking
an average.

I need one inch accuracy.

Do you have some information.

THanks, Mark

One inch? Unless you go with a survey quality system with a base station at a known position and use a mobile GPS capable of using the correction data, I don't think you'll be able to come close.

Is there some way to use GPS to get close to your target then switch to some type of homing system using ultrasonic or IR?

    Cheers,

    Mark,

Consumer GPS products use the L2 channel from the GPS satellites.
To get 1-inch accuracy you'd need a military GPS receiver that can
receive the L1 channel as well. And even then you will need a surveyed
point (known position) with differential techniques to achieve an
accuracy like this. In 1983 we were achieving sub-millimeter accuracy
with our L1/L2 receiver at Texas Instruments. Oh yes, we had the decryption
keys for the L1 channel.... smile.gif

I don't believe that averaging your consumer GPS determined position,
even over a 24-hour period, will get you inch accuracy.
