Adopted TODDLER Problems

Hi All,

I just adopted a old TODDLER and in doing so downloaded and wrote the code "first steps" to the BS2.

Here are the things I have done thus far.

- it powers on

- BS2 editor verifies the stamp and successful code download

- batteries new

- servos are connect to the correct ports

- disconnect the mechanical linkage from the servos in case it was binding

But my adopted TODDLER does not even thing of moving. Any suggestions out there ??? The book I received with it really doesn't have a meaty trouble shooting guide.

Cheers,

Glen

Can you check the power switch?
    It has 3 positions.

    1) Off
    2) Power to the main board, but not the servos
    3) Power to main board and servos

First, check to see if it's on the setting for power
to the main board and the servos.

    Hi,

I tried the procedure of holding down the reset while going from position· 2 to 3. From what I have read this should allow the code to execute, correct ?

When the servos are powered on, they initially move.
One of the switch positions will power on the servos.
A program will normally execute upon power on
without reset. Check the servo wires, and check to
    confirm servos are receiving power.

at the input to the servo, will that be a straight voltage or a pulse. I guess I am wondering if a scope is required.............

Each servo has three wires. Ground, signal, and power.
Check the power line for 6 volts with the slide switch
moved into the power position for the board and servos.
An oscilloscope is not needed for this step.

Are there two jumpers on the black power strip?· I'm at work right now, so I can't remember the correct positions, but you do need those two jumper wires.· If someone else hasn't answered by the time I get home, I'll email the jumper positions.

Ok, here is the jumper information from the book, pg 5...

"Place a jumper wire between the Vs1 and Vss above the breadboard.· Place another jumper wire between Vs2 and Vss on the same header.· This connects the servo grounds to the Basic Stamp's ground."
