Logging in to the new home page ?

I could not log in, Thanks for the heads up on changing your home page.
I know that there are always bugs to weed out before the release but you could have at least have warned me.
My question is:
I regestered with a new password to log in.
After logging in, with the new password, I needed to log in with my old password to enter the forum, Is this the correct way to log in?
