i resently got "whats a microcontroller?" for radioshack. i got home and dident have time to work on it for a month or two, and today i decided to, only to discover to my dismay that i dont have a serial port on my new laptop. so i jouneyed again to the shack and got a "6-ft USB to Serial Cable" so after a few hours of fiddeling with my computer i got it to say yes in both the ping and the loop coulums. but it cant seem to detect a BASIC Stamp. i tryed turning off the FIFO Buffers as suggested in appendix E. but alas i cant seem to get it to work. i will try it on a different computer tomaro, but i would like to make it work on my laptop, so any help would be amazing.
Thanks,
Mark

The radio shaq USB to Serial cable does not·work with Vista, and is expensive.· I went to Fry's electronics and found one from Cables unlimitted that works great for 1/2 the price.· It said it is Vista compatible on the front.
good luck.
