Detecting if my case/enclosure has been opened

I need to detect if my case/enclosure has been opened. Is there a standard way of doing this?

I thought that instead of switching the power off, I could put the prop in RXSLOW and look for some kind of open circuit.....i'm not really sure if i'm over analysing this or not!!

The easiest way would be to place a contact switch close to the case's lid so that the lid holds the switch closed. Have the prop read the switch every second or less and when it goes low, you know its been opened.

That's the sort of thing we used when I worked on military radio systems at Racal; when the case was opened the crypto keys had to be erased. A colleague and I had to demonstrate to the MoD that it actually worked on our Bowman manpack radios.
