Weather Proof Ping Sensor

I would like to mount the PING sensor in an ouside enviroment.· Anybody know a good way to weather proof the PING sensor?

    No, but there are other companies that make weather proof ultrasonics but they cost more, or you could try replacing the transducers with weather proof ones.
    www.futurelec.com carries some.

    This has come up multiple times and should be an easy problem to solve. I've got a friend who has a skin-packaging machine. I'll bet that a Ping))) with an extension cable can be skin-packed to a card with just the cable end hanging out. Since the sides of the transducers are vertical, the film that covers the ends should be pretty thin and tightly stretched when it gets softened and sucked down onto the card. The card would have to be treated with a waterproof coating to render it weatherproof, but that should be pretty easy to accomplish. Next time I'm out there, I'll give it a try!

    don't try replacing the transducers, I tried to replace them on a damages PING and it was near impossible to get them off with out either cooking the board or breaking it. the PING didn't survive my attempt.
