Here are links to two movies of "Skid-Steer" outdoors. As you can see, power is not a problem. (Again, pardon me for the poor movie quality.)
From the rocks to the grass, turn around (and then some)·and back . . .

Rock crunching . . .

I will work on my movie making skills. Must be the equipment. :)

For a good addition, look at this - http://www.parallax.com/dl/mm/video/boebot/TankWithMemsic.WMV
This is the BOE Bot with tank tracks·and an accelerometer to help it avoid flipping itself. A nice self-protection device - nothing as helpless as a turtle or bot on its back. With the power you have, it might try to climb a wall!

I think I have several Memsic tilt sensors. I know I have at least one. It will find its way on the skid-steer, for sure.
In the movies, when it hits the grass it immediately begins to ramp down. This is purely luck! I am running the same code I did in the house on the carpet. It gets a lot better traction on the rocks and in the grass than it does on the carpet, though. I'll have to think about that. I need some kind of absolute position encoder thingy. A little·floating wheel on each side with encoders? That way, I would always know which side was where and if it had slipped do something to make up for it.
