Fingerprint Reader

Hi all,

Just curious to know if anyone has developed, used, or heard of a fingerprint reader than can be interfaced with the BASIC Stamp. I know there are miniature USB versions of fingerprint reading devices, but is there a USB interface for the BASIC Stamp. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

Sorry, the BS2 can't be a "USB Host", not without additional hardware, anyway.

And I'd assume a "Finger Print Reader" would generate some largish files, to characterize the read finger-print. The BS2 has 26 bytes (that's BYTES, not KBytes, not MBytes, individual bytes) of RAM -- so having a Finger Printer Reader to enable something on the BS2 seems like a HUGE tail (the FingerPrint Reader) wagging a very small dog (the BS2).

Thanks for your response Allan. Actually I was assuming there would be some additional hardware involved. I was hoping that maybe via a serial connection or a USB to RS232 converter I could read the info off of a USB based fingerprint reader. I suppose what matters is where the fingerprint "fingerprint" is stored. If it's stored on the host then I guess it wouldn't work, but I was under the impression that maybe it was stored on drive itself. Well, maybe I'll have to look for another solution. I wonder if someone has developed a self-contained driver circuit that could simple control and recognition information... either way, thanks for the feedback.
