More I/O pins through I2C

Hello,
I was wondering if there was an I2C or SPI chip that would allow a user to have more I/O pins. I could always use a CPLD, but I was wondering if something already exists out there.
Thanks,
Frank

There are several. Philips (and others) make the PCA9554 and PCF8475 which are 8-bit. There's another one that's 16 bit. Microchip makes several, the MCP23016 (16-bit) and the MCP23008 (8-bit).

And Texas Instruments: PCA9539 (16 bit) or PCA9538 (8 bit).
They has very low standby current consumption <1uA.
