Separate Forums for Penguin and Boe-Bot

Do you think it would be good to split the robotics forums into two groups - one for the Penguin and one for the traditional Boe-Bot?

Don't get upset - this is just an idea?

Maybe you could tell me how to filter the forum posts by robot type.

Thanks,

Roy

Interesting idea, but personally, I like keeping them all together as many of the topics are not platform specific... they are more about "robotics" in general. Let's supose that I have a issue or question about creating a "map" with a PING)))... which forum would I post it in?

Thats true, bit also there are many "homebrew" robots in this thread. Most of the stuff in hear applies to robots in general, not specifically one or the other.

Roy Carlson: The idea is good but think it would be difficult as D Faust has explained

Maybe we can set a searchable keyword in the post heading for searhing robot specific topics or a way to filter when it makes sense and read all when browsing for ideas and posts.

Having Penguin robot information with other robots like
BoeBot in the robot section works well because the
material which is applicable to one, can be applied to
others, and visa versa. BoeBot, Scribbler, SumoBot,
Toddler, and others are related to Penguin. To me, it
    looks like one happy family.

I've found this information, regarding searches, to be the authority
when it comes to finding Penguin information on the Parallax
    forum. (link & quote below)

    SEARCHES

This discusses the use of Google as an alternative.
    forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=13&m=100624

    Bascally:

    Click on search.parallax.com
(or this will work from ANY Google search box anywhere, like at the top of your Firefox browser)
    site:forums.parallax.com penguin

will search ONLY the forums for the word penguin. You can string stuff at the end with - signs to eliminate words

Note that we have a consolidation of the Penguin materials in a sticky at the TOP of the ROBOTICS forum. It contains the major postings for the Penguin - especially program listings.

Otherwise, I think the joint forum for all these bots is warranted, as they use the same chips and sensors and co-related. What would help is if everyone made sure to name the primary robot in the subject title and maybe mention it in the post. BOEBOT is tough as it can be written BOE-BOT or without dash or with space... You are right, the SEARCH is the key!
