CMU and Lynxmotion arm

I am going to buy a Lynxmotion arm, attach it to a BS2 and then get a CMU cam. I will use the CMU cam to track a ball and a Ping sensor to tell distance, then the arm will reach out and grab the object.

Actually, you don't even need the ping sensor. Just have the camera center the ball in it's view, then move the arm toward the ball until the camera sees it's big enough (it'll look bigger the closer you are) to grab it.

Actually the ping will not be of any value to locate the ball once it gets really near to arm robot.

You could also get an inexpensive webcam and download RoboRealm for free. RoboRealm can do all the vision processing on your PC, then send servo commands through a serial cable to the arm to get it to move accordingly!

Thanks everyone. also thank you for telling me I did not need the ping. I would probably have wasted hours trying to get the ping sensor to do anything. wink.gif
