Ok,
·
It's getting close to Halloween, and I am surprised that I haven't seen more posts for Halloween projects... (hint, hint, hint)
·
The original "Spooky Eyes" was put together by myself·3 years ago with a BS2.
http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=517450

Using a BS2·to control two sets of eyes and two servos, I made them look as though the critters are tilting their head blinking at you.
I have since made another modification that can control up to·4 sets of Eyes and 4 servos.· The Blinking has been improved so that
the eyes fade ON and OFF rather than completely ON or OFF... gives a much better overall effect.
·
RED eyes are probably the most common, but GREEN, YELLOW, WHITE·and even BLUE have a nice effect.
·
Note with some colors such as BLUE and WHITE, you will need to observe·a different wiring approach.
·
Have fun and enjoy!!! Happy Halloween!!

    Beau,

I like the idea, but could you explain somethings about the wiring diagrarm.
    1. What are the 220 uF caps for ?
    2. What is the output of the 7805 ? What is the 6.2V in red ?
    3. Why two diodes on the gnd of the 7805 ?

Any help in understanding the circuit what be great appreciated.

The 7805 produces 6.2V output because of the two diodes. Each diode has a voltage drop of about 0.6V for a total of 1.2V. Add 5V and you get 6.2V which is enough for the Stamp's regulator and is perfect for the servos.· This type of regulator can produce higher voltages than its rating by raising the ground terminal above ground by the amount you need.· The diodes do that.

The 220uF capacitors are used to filter the noise produced by the servo motors and to provide brief surges of power for the motors as they turn on and off to move.
