Does anyone have the part number a stamp socket? (preferably mouser)

Any 24 pin 0.6" spacing socket will do. I prefer machined sockets since they hold up better with repeated insertions, but really any should work fine.

Thanks that is what I needed. I am going with the 571-390262-1· (mouser #) I like the leaf sockets, but I am not moving my stamp around very much.

EDIT:·I changed the number to a cheaper version

I just ordered a ZIF socket from futurlec.com at a price of $4.50 per socket.

Has anyone experimented with replacing sockets on the BOE board or the Professional Developers board?

I have not done this, and probably wouldn't try, but you would need a hot air gun (I think that is the name) to melt all of the solder at once. Then you might have to melt all of the solder at once to put it back on too. The boe isn't a very complicated board, so I would just try to make my own (voltage regulator, breadboard, sip sockets) and use the BS1 serial adapter off the board. For future reference, what is the part number of that socket?

Once you receive your ZIF socket, check to see if it will just plug into the socket on the BOE. If the pins are long enough and stiff enough to do so, you'll save yourself some trouble desoldering the original.

Addendum: Attached is a photo of a TexTool ZIF socket plugged into the BOE's socket. The pins were barely long enough, but it fits securely.

    Hey Mike and Phil,

Maybe I am missing something but... why would you want a zif for your BS2?

    Thanks,

It would be to decrease wear and tear, as well as not having to worry about breaking the stamp while your prying it out. (My guess)
