I have first-base questions in reference to temperature sensing I would like to choose the most dependable accuracy within a minimum of .5° accuracy or less . And to make a decision purely on dependable·&·accuracy what would be a better choice analog or digital I'm thinking DS1626, yet I have some advice that analog is just as good. and what senser would be beter 1 wire from mamim family or DS1626, or some other,·my first consern is·Accuracy. Thank you Thom

The digital output sensors in the best grades can have the accuracy you require, +/- 0.5 degC, but it is another matter to acheive that in practice. It comes down to how the sensor is mounted, what medium you are trying to measure, and care for self heating. The digital sensors like the DS1626 can be read to much higher precision than the factory accuracy specs, so with a calibration against a standard, they can achieve around 0.1 degree. Analog sensors like the best grades of the LM34 can also achieve that, but then you have to be concerned more with possible degradation of the analog signal through noise or resistance, and you need an analog to digital converter. For long term accuracy and stability, 0.01 degree, there is no substitute for a platinum RTD. That takes special circuitry.
