Cheap Serial-to-wireless solution

Is there any cheap solution to link two computers using serial port through a wireless link?
I have found a lot of devices on the internet that·are serial-to-wifi solutions, but are expensive, in the order of $200-$300 apiece (and I need two of them).
I don't need much speed, but 115Kbps would be welcome.·I could accomodate even to 9600bps.
BTW, how reliable and fast are·those 433Mhz RF·modules that are so cheap?

You need one at each end at $20 each. They can work at up to 115Kbps although the actual data rate is probably a little slower. They use an addressable network protocol that takes care of packaging up the serial data into packets and reliably transferring the packets to the other end. To the user, it looks like there's just a serial data stream. There's a more expensive, compatible, higher power version if you need the range.
These are 3.3V modules and need some interface logic to talk to 5V logic or RS-232. Martin Hebel www.selmaware.com made a line of adapters for the Stamp and Propeller. He no longer makes these, but the documentation and schematics are on his website.
The 433MHz modules can handle up to about 9600 Baud, but there's no error checking. You have to handle that yourself.
