BANKS directive not changing FUSE settings on SX18/20/28

I have found, that for some reason, the BANKS fuse setting does not actually change anything in programming the chip. What is up with that? Any reason in particular that it does not?

    Kris,

Do you need to use the BANKS fuse or is this an academic question?

    Thanks,

Little from column A, little from column B. I would like to know what they do, but if the SXKey does not change them at all, then I will not deal with them in my assembler. So, I guess its not all that important, how about "Why does the SXKey not mess with the BANKS settings? What would be the benefit of changing them?"

The BANKS device directive was to make the SX28 emulate a smaller device (for code compatibilty). There is really no benefit to using it.

Thanks, thats what I wanted to know. Are there any other device directives that are specified in the SASM documentation that the Parallax SXKey does not implement? Stuff like the other than default BANKS directives.
