Vex Sonar/ Devantech SRF04 Interface?

Hello,
I've not had any luck modifying the PING object to work with VEX Sonar sensors (which appear to be Devantch SRF04s)
So far I've tried to play with timing parameters according to SRF04 specs, with no luck.
Has anybody had success using VEX Sonar sensors with the prop? Do I need pull up and/or pull down resistors?
