Hello I am completely new to this and wanted to know if the microsoft version was as newbie friendly as the serial/USB version. I am completely new to programming and would like to use this project as a fun learning tool. With that in mind, is one better than the other?

They are essentially the same.. the Standard BOEBot does not include the bluetooth components... If you are a complete newbie, I would suggest getting the regular BOEbot, going through all the tutorials, then buying the Bluetooth components and downloading the MSRS materials.

    What "Microsoft version"?

Man, if people keep inventing new terms to refer to the old stuff, it gets really hard to make helpful answers.

The big benefit to buying the pre-packaged MSRS Boe-Bot kit is that it's a bit less expensive than buying the components seperately.

Well, that, and a genuine, autographed by Bill Gates DOS 1.0 disk!!!

Nope, just joking about the DOS disk, although you could possibly get Ken Gracey to sign the box...

I'm sorry, I haven't done the MSRS system myself.

The BOE is so simple, that programming it with the Parallax IDE is usually preferable to layering a PC on top of it using Bluetooth.

Still, interactive control over Bluetooth could be sweet too.
