Useing TRIACs with the prop?

I just bought three of these https://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10001&productId=160231&pa=160231PS·I have never used TRIACs before so any help would be great. ·· Here is what I am trying to do, I need to dim a 120 volt ac / 60 Hz lamp how would I hook up the TRIAC? What safety precautions do I need to take?· And last of all what would i need to do code wise?

It's potentially very dangerous to fool with 120VAC, particularly around logic circuitry where everything else is usually safe.· Have a look in the Wikipedia ... search for "wiki triac".· You'll need an optoisolator to isolate and protect the logic circuitry.· You'll also need a "snubber" circuit to make sure the triac turns off under odd load conditions.· Have a look at the EFX-TEK RC-4 which uses a packaged triac circuit (solid state relay) and shows how a good PCB should be laid out when there's AC present.· You still need good insulated packaging to keep accidental tool drops or loose fingers from killing someone or causing a fire.

I'm controlling a bunch of triacs from a prop over an I2C bus to make a el-wire sequencer. As Mike said I do isolate the logic side/I2C chip from the triacs with these optoisolators

The data sheet for my TRIAC says that it is isolated dose that still mean that i need a optoisolator?

Yes, you need them still smile.gif
The datasheet says: "Isolated packages are offered with internal construction, having
the case or mounting tab electrically isolated from the semiconductor
    chip."

This just means what it says... You can safely screw it to any place.. more or less...

Maybe this is helpful, there is a schematic in the manual:
