about controlling a waters 501 HPLC pump using microcontroller

i have a Waters 501 HP LC pump which is basically use to chromatography in chemistry lab, right now its manual and i want to control it using my computer, like if i enter 5.9 millimeter/min in my computer command then it should interface with the machine and pour that much liquid in the beaker, so can you guy help me, i also want to use micro controller for the interface. your's help will be appreciated.
i was just wondering if any one can help me.

    First you need to determine how the pump communicates to the outside then you can figure out what it talks. If the pump is totally manual you will need to find a way to interface to the hardware. Do you have the manual or schematics?
