A smokin' BS2...

Yep, I smoked my BS2 last night. cry.gif
I haven't done anything with it in a while.
And last night I hooked it up to the same power
supply I have been using and within moments.
The terribly awful smell and some smoke came
pouring out.
I was using the Board of Education Development Board - Serial Version.

So how can I check the board to see if it is still good?
I am pretty sure the stamp is toast. As a matter of fact,
I couldn't even touch the stamp for about 10 minutes.

Parallax,
Can I send the both back so you can test the board and stamp or
dispose of my new paperweight?

All in all, last night just sucked. mad.gif

Call customer service at Parallax. They will usually give you an RMA number so you can send them the BOE, they'll often repair or replace it for part of the cost of a new one.

I'M sorry that the "scarecrow" comment may have been sarcastic.

I haved puffed a few things in my career. I work with CNC machines (exp. Mitsuiseki, Puma) with different servo mechanical controls (exp. GE Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Seimens)
I'm developing a tool: recording/ monitring for troubeshooting and quick-fix interfacing control using Parallax because it is user friendly.

    Jason,

I just want to tell you to hang in there.· We have all smoked a few things during our learning curve.· It gets less and less common as you go.· Most of the time, people here are supportive and sympathetic, and other times they just aren't.·example

Thus I thought I'd leave a few words of support, as I know how frustrating it can be when you have to wait a little bit to continue experimenting or learning.·· But hang in there, its worth it.

In the last 12 mos, Ive cooked 2 bs2's, a bluetooth card, and a demo board.· Parallax has always been experimenter friendly, and understanding.· The replaced the stamps for me at a pretty fair price.·

PS, I doubt the board is bad...

PSS if you are good with soldering, you might consider the OEM stamp kit while you are learning.· Each part is replacable if you burn something up...· cheaper and a great component learning experience.
