Is there a way to datalog an "event" with a BS or an SX? An event such as when and how long a certain I/O pin was used.
If there is, where might there be a tutorial?

    Hello,

There wouldn’t be a tutorial on something specific like that since there aren’t any details. What type of event? High/Low? Analog? What resolution? Is 1 second resolution sufficient? How many events are expected before memory needs to be downloaded?

High/ low , thats it , what time , date and duration. And just a very few events, the most recent lets say 10 events of when "pin 1" went high.

With 1 second resolution and a small number of events you could use a DS1302 as your RTC and log events to EEPROM. If the DS1302 has a backup battery the system could even recover from power loss and write in the proper locations if you store your pointer in the DS1302 RAM. Take care.

If you go on line and find "Industrial Control" text from parallax in PDF format, chapter 8 covers this pretty well.· It was carried over to the replacement "Process Control" text.
