Propeller and Flash Drive

Hello All. I recently ordered a Propeller Demo Kit, so I haven't even gotten my hands on one yet, but the project I ordered it for would benefit greatly if I didn't have to ship all the data off to a laptop for high capacity storage. I'm wondering if anyone on this forum is looking into the complexities of interfacing a Propeller with a USB Flash Drive? I did a search for "Flash Drive" on this forum and got no hits.

    Welcome on the Propeller forum.

Then you did not use the google search (search.parallax.com) for this forum. Try the following link.

    I've also indexed some stuff:

Also consider SD cards, already well supported by some nice objects and you only need a socket and a couple of resistors.

    Ya know...
I often hesitate to post to forums because I'm not an engineer, and am usually asking rather than offering.
Today, though, I feel like a real idiot. I realized that I've seen just what I'm looking for many times in the Parallax store,
but did a disconnect because the product "headline" says "Memory Stick" rather than "Flash Drive".
I apologize for waisting your time, and embarrassing myself.

It took me a while to figure that one out too. I've purchased and worked with the "memory stick" which is really a Vinculum USB host. It will make it possible for you to communicate with a variety of usb devices. Check out the pdfs from the vinculum site while you're waiting for your chip. http://www.vinculum.com/documents.html

They really should rename that thing! Especially since "Memory Stick" is a registered trademark of Sony.

Thank you all for the information you've provided. Thanks also for pointing out that maybe I can stop kicking myself.
Mcstar, that Vinculum VDrive2 looks Very interesting. Not built necessarily for prototyping, it's packaged pretty nicely.
I'll be looking over the firmware PDF this evening.
