Any Java Programmers here?

I decided it was time to learn Java. I have learned there are no sun supported serial classes for windows. I did find this site that has a solution.· I am wondering if i should get the USB version and then use a USB to Serial adaptor instead of a serial port directly. I am looking at designing DMX software that runs on a PC under windows using Java. Applications would use laptops as well that don't have serial ports sometimes.

Since I have just started this adventure, i wondered if anyone here has used this software or programs java.
