Light sensitivity

confused.gif·My two SomoBots seem to be very light sensitive.· Sometimes when starting, they immediately go to an "out of ring" condition·while still on the black portion of the ring.· I also have this trouble with them on the bench.· One seems to be more sensitive than the other.· I even went to the extent of changing out the QTI line detectors.· I would think that as part of the initialization routine, they would detect the surface and adjust accordingly, do I need to tweak these values?

I'm in process of building a ring from hardboard, is there a recommendation as far as paint so it won't get scraped off easily?

Any ideas, suggestions, are more than welcome.

    Going through the Applied Robotics, chapter 3, both of my Sumos are reporting dark even though I slip a piece of white photo paper under them. This is using the coding from the SumoBot/Applied Robotics source code.
    Confused and getting frustrated....

    Wait, you get a light readign on a black surface and a dark on white surface. Are you reading the sensor wrong? (the values are switched?)
