EAGLE Library files for Stamps/Parallax components.

Hi,
Do Parallax have or use EAGLE for PCB layout? I was wondering about the possibility of Parallax (or a nice user!) providing a component library file for EAGLE layout editor, as this seems to be quite a popular choice of editor from what I can gather on the boards.

I understand that Parallax can't provide layouts and libraries for every piece of software out there, but if any user has created any stamp libraries etc, then I'm sure many people would use them!

Kind Regards,
Morrolan

Go to Cadsoft.de and visit their "downloads" section, then click on "Libraries"

or better yet - click on this link www.cadsoft.de/cgi-bin/download.pl?page=/home/cadsoft/html_public/download.htm.en&dir=eagle/userfiles/libraries

There are libraries for Basic Stamps as well as the Propeller.

download the library and copy to the "LIB" sub-folder in your Eagle folder.

I have had a licensed copy of Eagle Lite for years now and love it.
But I am still too lazy to have specific library components for all Parallax products.

If you need something quick, you can locate a device with the same footprint and relable it.

Be aware that the library section of all circuit design software is usually huge and requires awhile to locate things. After all, manufacturers try to make it so you don't rely on generic solutions and remain loyal to their particular products. So it become a huge database.

It also is a easy to start adding things and then discover that you really are duplicating something that is already there. So beware of clutter and duplication.

Also, the ubicom library (at the Cadsoft site) has the SX chips.·

I have found it very helpful to create my own library and copy and paste·in the devices I use most.· It saves a lot of time.· Dealing with libraries has been, for me,·the biggest drawback to using Eagle.· Once you get used to using the libraries and creating your own devices, Eagle is really a nice package for the price.

Start playing around with the library editor. Its not as hard as you might think and there are tutorials online. Once I got the hang of it, I could whip up libraries very fast. The last one I did was last night. Its a library for an ARM9 in a 256-bga package. I still have some work to do, but it took me less than an hour to draw all of the vias for the balls and label half of them.
