LEDs driven by 7 segment driver

Hi
I would like to use a 7 segment driver to control 64 individual LEDs. I have seen code for running the 7 segment displays but can't figure out the addressing to run the matrix for individual segments. The goal is an 8 x 8 matrix of leds that I can control individual LEDs.

It sounds exactly like you need to use the MAX7219. Here is a link showing how to cascade 2 or more of them using a BS2.
