Well, we all have these periods in life when new challenges or priorities pop-up.

I had that too BUT now - more than 20 yrs later - the soldering iron has been heated up again and I'm
glad that I still have my old treasures such as a 6800 micro, a Z80 etc. etc.
Of course, your new hobby "sounds" interesting too although I know nothing about turbo charging.
Turbo Pascal is the closest I get :<))

Good luck,
Ed

what's the difference between turbo charge and super charge? I agree... put everything in a box and store it away one day you'll come across it all and it will be worth even more. and will be funner to use!

haha ide rather sell it and buy my waste gate....

Turbo charged means that the exhaust of the engine spins a propeller which is connected to a shaft and on the other end of a shaft is another propeller thats being spun by the exhaust, this propeller takes air from outside and pushes it into the turbine housing which then gets compressed and forced into the engine.

Supercharged is the same thing except it gets the drive from a belt instead of exhaust.

Skywalker49,
·
In electrical terms, the two propellers act like a transformer. (Not sure whether is a step-up or step-down) This way, the used exhaust gas is isolated from the fresh air intake, and the fresh air is used to burn the fuel more efficiently...· analogous to blowing air on a fire.· Another method, not quite as efficient as a Turbo charge is to use "Forced Air Induction" but similar in idea to fanning the fire.· Basically it involves having a scoop of some kind (above or below hood) in·a forward facing arrangement.·

·
willthiswork89,
·
Perhaps a STAMP, SX, or Propeller could be incorporated into your next turbo charged project·of the future? smilewinkgrin.gif

I can see your need for cash.
I had only one friend that turbo charged his car and he had to pay thousands of dollars in fines for speed exhibition.

Have you thought about a good suspension to handle all that velocity?

Of course then he·had to·sell the car and find another cheaper hobby until someone with a lot of speeding tickets sold him another appealing priced turbo charged car.

And then it was back to court again.

You might do better on EBay as we are Parallax enthusiast and tend to have already acquired similar stuff.· And they have automotive parts too.

I usually drive forward at a cautious pace.

To continue,
My friend found out it was much cheaper to buy a whole turbo charged car right after the owner's court appearance than to build one from parts. Just hang out with drag racers.

As I recall, his last time around [1980 or so] he got a Shelby Ford Mustag for about $300. But once again he had to later pay thousands in fines.

pwillard,
That on the left which you drive... Is it designed for left handed or right handed right of way? I can't seem to see the steerwheel.

My grandfather was an M.D. who firmly believe that most people in the graveyard had the right of way. I suspect he was quite right.

But you drive recklessly when in reverse? tongue.gif

Im another Mini owner, though not the S edition. Ive been pulled over several times for taking corners "too fast", hey just cause your crusier cant handle a hairpin exit at 50 mph doesn't mean my Cooper can't. Never got a ticket though because I only do the high speed exits when there isn't a posted limit for the ramp.

Hey Paul! glad to see another mini driver here! I totally know what you mean about taking corners in a mini, I think speed limits should be based on a drivers (and cars) ability to handle the road. Ok not really but wouldn't that be fun. When I first got my Mini I would be in "rush mode" trying to get somewhere on time, when I look down and realize I'm going 90 in a 55. oops!

the mini has every gadget I would want except for GPS auto lights, auto windshield wipers a sensor on everything even the gas cap.

Agreed... the SKY takes a mean corner too. In fact... I love mountain roads... Whee!

I have no place nice to put a GPS!!! WAH! I have one stuck to the windsheild.

I eventually want to see if I can do a HID flasher of some sort. I have LED's in my HID so It might be easy.

willthiswork89,
All kidding aside, you need a good mechanical background for bigger and better robotic projects. That BasicStamp may still come in handy to deploy a parachute or something.

These days, I have a brand new Yamaha 100cc scooter - quite nice. [It even says 'Racing Team' on its two color paint job]. But it just isn't the same as driving my Dad's Alfa Romeo or Lancia.

And, I can't seem to thing of anything I can electronically add to it.
