Connecting multiple BOE / Proto Board to set of sensors and servo motors

Hello,

I have a BoeBot and want to mount the Propeller Proto Board on top of the Stamp BOE
because I would like to be able to quickly switch between BS and Prop. programming.

I'm looking for a solution to quickly switch all sensors and motors from one board· to the other.

Solutions already proposed by D. Faust: (thread "Mapping concept" in Sandbox)
idea.gifWhat if you just run all of the wires to both processors and have a switch disconnect power from one or the other.

I find this·a tricky one because there is the risc that both boards become switched on by mistake or during
transition from from board to the other .. what will happen with the I/O's ? Did read already a lot about damaged
pins.

Solution already proposed by Dgswaner: (thread "Mapping concept" in Sandbox)

Skywalker I know they make Single pull and 10 throw switches +/- why not incorporate a few of those switches Or perhaps a multi pin plug for all of the connections and you just plug in which ever CPU you want to use.

I'm not sure what these switches are but I'm looking for an elegant solution, one switch which triggers a multicontact relay or something like that.

Does anybody have some experience / proposals .. DO or DON'T tips ?

Thank you,
Ed

You would use on switch to switch from one board to the other (they wouldn't be on at the same time) and if you wanted you could have another switch wired in series so they both would have to be set to the same processor, thus eliminating the possibility of both getting power.· Hope this helps.··I understand that you are looking for alternatives.

What if you mounted a 3 by 10(or however many pins you need) male header and take a 2 by 10(or the other number) female header with leads next to each other connected to make a 10 pin jumper. The middle pin would go to the external devices and the exterior one would go to the boe and protoboard. I hope this is clear enough.

ok, that is a manual switch .. just pull out the female header shift one row and plug back in.
Yes, that is an option. A safe option. Dgswaner suggested the MPP (Multi Pin Plug) which is basically the same.

    thx, Ed
