The DS1620 is a temperature chip with a good example program for the SX-28. If it is on a circuit board enclosed in a case, it would read ambiant temperatures of the case heating.·Am I·supposed to mount it externally from the case like a sensor?·How are other users doing this?

Thanks.

Yes, is the answer.· If you want it to read something other then the temperature of the circuit board, you will have to use a 5 wire conductor and remotely mount it in a different location of your choice.

I have sucessfully mounted the device remotely up to 100 feet away using a 5 wire conductor that is shielded.· I have even embeded the DS1620 in·"Shoe Goo" (great stuff)·and am remotely reading the water temp in which my boat is sitting.·The "Shoe Goo" waterproofs the DS1620 as it is planted in the bilge water to read·temperature.· The bilge water takes on the temp of the surrounding water the boat floats in.
