MLX90614 Infrared Thermometer Module - any experiences?

Hello,

Have any of you used this sensor? Can you provide any experiences, code examples, or interest?

The sensor alone is fairly expensive from Digi-Key ($24 each).

We're considering a small evaluation module based on this sensor and I'm trying to ascertain the level of interest from our customers.

Sincerely,

Ken Gracey

    Ken,
I would be interested if you plan to use the "DAA" version that has medical accuracy.
Would the module have any "smarts" ? Or is it·to·allow for easy connections ?

    Bean.

    Sam, okay.

Bean, no smarts - just easy access to the I2C interface. I'll check into the pricing on the DAA version.

It's too bad it doesn't have a wider temp range.

    Gents -

FindChips (findchips.com) would indicate that Future Electronics has some models of the MLX90614 even less expensive than that. One is in the $5.00+ USD range.
