Missed the deadline ( 24 hours was a bit short ), but I'd go for a simple -
"Spin on this"
I'm sure an advert with an upraised fore finger and a Propeller Chip balanced on top would attract attention from a great distance. And probably crash cars on a highway billboard.
I'm gratified that so many liked my drawing; but it really was a slogan contest, not a logo contest. Moreover, I really like "the power of eight"! So I've modified my logo in honor of the winning entry. Congratulations, ciw1973!
ciw1973: Thanks for the compliments :), but I think the best one won :)
Phil: Great logo, but, don't take this the wrong way, or offensively, but aren't the flat edge of the blades the cutting edge? and therefore the trailing grey would be on the other side? I know i'm being intensely critical about it, but I can't help it, I guess it's from working with professional CG film artists for the past 5 years, they've ruined everything for me, I can pick up the slightest of inperfections in movies :( specially where the lighting doesn't quite match, it can be the slightest mismatch, and i'll pick it up.
so like I said, don't take it wrong or personally, I think it's a great logo, worthy of being used :) it's just my 2p's worth.
I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code
People say that if you play Microsoft CD's backwards, you hear satanic things, but that's nothing, because if you play them forwards, they install Windows.
I spent a minute looking at my own code by accident. I was thinking "What the heck is this guy doing?"
After I submitted the original drawing, I thought, as you do, that I had the blades reversed. So I went back to the original photo from which the blades were modeled. 'Turns out, they're right the way they are, so I didn't change them.
Craig,
Wow, it'd be pretty tough to squeeze another eight cylinders in there and have it look right! Maybe a V16 instead of a radial?
Phil: Yes, they are the right way, but, it's the grey motion blur bit with the writing, what I was getting at, and if you moved that round to the other side of the blade, it wouldn't look the same, which is why I said to flip the blades, and it'll also be easier to flip just the blades :)
Yeah just had a good butchers, must have had a blonde moment, lol, yeah, ( ok senior moment, as my wife just corrected me lol she's blonde :) ) with all what's goin on, sorry my mistake.
Guess she might be right, I must be getting old lol.
Thanks for the kind words — but also for introducing some British slang I've never heard before. Even after seeing "butchers" in a sentence, I'm totally mystified!

'Necessity is the mother of invention'
Jim.
Take a look at the photo. The curved edge is in front and is the leading edge. The prop spins counter-clockwise as you face it.

Either way, cool logo :)

It's something my mum always says.
Jim.
It's taken from 'Butcher's Hook' which is cockney rhyming slang for 'Look'
So when you are 'Havin' a butcher's' you are looking at it.
Don't you just love cockney rhyming slang, right I'm off for my Frank Skinner (Dinner) lol
Best regards,
Coley
