Minimum connections for BS2?

I am building my first BS2 application without a BOE or Homework Board. What do I need for it to work correctly?

Power and ground, the rest depend on what it is you are doing. If you explain what that is I (we) can give you a better answer

That's it? I needed to add a few caps & resistors to pins of the Picaxes that I've been using; I thought I might have to do something similar with the BS@...

Here's the pinout for the BS2.
You'll need the serial connection (shown how to hook it up on the bottom) to program the stamp
Reset, pulled low, resets the stamp
    VSS and·VIN power the stamp
P1-15 are general I/O's for your project

I'm not sure, but I think you might need capacitors on the power connections to smooth it out. Check a development board schematic for the power circuit.
Page four of this: http://www.parallax.com/dl/docs/prod/boards/HomeWorkBoard-v1.3.pdf·shows a capacitor on the power lines.· Its in the upper left corner of the schematic, near the regulator.

The PICAXE is just a chip, so you do need to add a few extra components. The Stamp is a very small circuit board with chips and other components already added. The Stamp circuit board is so small that it is the same size a as some chips.
