Ok, so I just finished soldering together my latest Homebrew PCB for my SX28 (Basically a homebrew SX-TECH board) and I went to test my Blitz for the first time... and this is what I saw.

OOPS.· Guess I need to unplug my Bluetooth Dongle!

If it doesn't jump out at you... my Blitz showed up as COM PORT 14.· DOH!

    Hi
That's the most DONGLES I have ever seen attached to 1 PC.

My MOTOROLA USB BlueTooth COM unit for my NOKIA 6300 phone does a similar thing
on my Notebook PC.. ( now running bloated XP yak...)
    Good pointer PW

    PWillard,

Just curious, what version of the SX-Key IDE software are you running?

    Thanks,

I have the latest version. I wasn't really trying to say the SX-KEY had a bug. A reboot made COM14 show up. I figured it would. I just never noticed that I had 13 com ports already!

    PWillard,

Good to hear that COM14 showed up. I spent a fair bit of time making sure that the configuration dialog could handle all sorts of weird COM configurations (such as having 14 COM ports simultaneously!), and was wondering why COM14 wasn't there.

    Thanks,

OMG. I feel so dumb. I'm still laughing though. I plugged up a 7V AC supply to my Proto/28. Ok, nobody do this.

FYI: I am of the older set and my eyesight could be better.

It didn't fry my Blitz (whew) but it did fry the SX28 on the board. Luckily I had a spare SSOP SX28 and I quickly desoldered and replaced it. replaced the caps as well... just in case. Now, all is well.

So... the lesson here is: READ THE INFO ON THE WALL WART VERY CAREFULLY *before* inserting into a PROTO28.

Oh, and for the record. You don't get good results from SX-KEY when AC is being supplied to the board. Who ever was on parallax help desk helping me troubleshoot my Blitz issue... it was me... being dumb. (thanks, btw, phone support is SUPER!)
