Powering Prototype Board with 5 Volts

What is the best way to power a Prototype Board from a 5 volt DC supply? I was thinking I would remove the first regulator and then shorting the input and output traces on the PCB. The second regulator would still·generate the 3.3 volts. Any thoughts?
