USB Oscilloscope
I was using my USB Oscilloscope on one laptop (ToshibaG35). It worked fine. The video went out. I installed the software on a backup laptop (HP7389). It comes up, detects the Oscope connection, and it calibrates the probes. I can adjust all the software knobs, etc. I just get no signals.
What could be wrong?

What version OS are you running? and Are you running the new O-scope software or the old?
Sometimes at the start, I have to click Trigger Auto/Normal and or Run/Stop a couple of times.
I'm on 2000, running O-scope software version 4

Both laptops have XP. Both have O-scope software version 4.
Toshiba (dead video, no longer with me) worked just fine and I could watch serial data.
HP Pavilion laptop can see the connection, calibrate probes, just doesn't see the blinking LED signals. <insert disparaging phrase here>
I sent in an email to parallax support and all I received so far is "what OS?"
Anyone with ideas?
Do you have any readings in the upper right hand side? In the Auto Measurements? You should see some floating mVolts.
Also, under the those readings, you should see a color square blue or red/CH1 or CH2. If you don't see any color square both channels are off.
Down in the lower right hand side is Vertical Settings. You should have a green or a green and yellow light next to CH1 and or CH2. No light, no trace. Click the buttons, Blue/CH1 or Red/CH2, under the OFF button. The light just to the right of the button should turn green if just one, or green and yellow if both channels are on. Traces should appear.
You should then have a blue or red box under the Auto Measurements.

I can change the color text of the square as I change the source of the trigger -- Blue, Red, Green.
Verticle shows Blue with Green; Red with Yellow; Green with black. Blue and Red are set to 5V
Horizontal is set to 1 Sec.
When I set trigger to Red and Vertical to Red, Auto Measurements all go to zero even when on the Flashing LEDs. I change the settings to Blue and the Auto Measurements come up same as always -- no change weather I am hooked up or not.
I unhooked the probes; shut down the software; removed the USB.
I started the software; when the splash screen came up showing the little red box (not connected) I hooked up the USB and waited for the box to turn green.
I clicked to start the O-scope. Now all Auto Measurements are zero for Blue, Red and Green.
Well, for a moment I did have static measurments there.
So haw do I get the numbers back? They were there! I saw them! Honest!
Drat. Now the software hung on me while I'm trying to Calibrate the probes.
I'll give it a rest for an hour or two and try again or shut down the computer and restart it....
It seem that it is getting progressively worse. 8-b

Get the Horiz. OFF of 1 sec. (way too much). Put it on 500 us.
Put Run/Stop Mode on Continous Acquisiton.
Put Vert. on 1 or 2 volts.
Put CH1 active on the Auto Measurments. Blue square.
Make sure the Run/Stop button is green.
You should see the traces and the Auto Measurments should have floating mVolts with the probe free. Not hooked to anything. Not hooked together. Just sitting free on the bench.
Other than that, it might be worth a call to tech support to walk you through some stuff and see it's dead. I doubt it.
