Parallax Power Supplies - are they universal?

Hello Parallax and forum members,

I was just wondering if the power supplies offered by parallax are universal? (I.e. can take between 100vac ~ 240vac and 50hz ~ 60hz.)· I travel a lot and wanted to know if they would be compatible for my travels.· I know the plug would be a standared US 2 pin socket.

I am interested in the 7.5volt 1amp, and the 12volt 1amp models, personally. :-)

Anybody out there know?· It is usually listed on the 'wall wart' what it can take.

failing that - I will probably have to go to digikey or something.· Any recomendations?

I don't have a parallax power supply, but here's a hint. If the power supply has a large transformer in it (weight) it probably will not adjust to different mains supply voltages and if it's a switching power supply (lighter) it probably will adjust.

    Type 1: Hefty Wall Wart
Type 2: Laptop style Power Supply

    I have a Parallax supply and it's marked 100-240 volts, 47-63 Hz.

I would talk to them first, to make sure the model you get can handle it. What's a free phone call worth?

    OakGraphics,

I just went back to the stockroom to check this for myself.

Both part numbers 750-00007 and 750-00009 are rated 100-240 VAC 50-60 Hz. I was a bit surprised, because in the past these models of Sceptre power supplies were only 120 VAC input.

    Sincerely,

I believe our power supplies only come with the US plug insert, so while the supply would work on foriegn electrical systems, you would have to find the appropriate insert or adapter.
