Tele-Autonomous Rover with Robotic Arm (using XBee)

Hi friends,

Just completed building my differential drive robot with robotic arm. The rover motors are powered by a Sabertooth motor controller and the servos for the arm are powered by a Pololu servo controller.

The robot currently is teleoperated by an application I developed in VB. I implemented wireless communication using XBee radios from Maxstream. I am working on the firmware to implement autonomous operation, obstacle avoidance and object tracking.

I created a slideshow of the prototype and is available on youtube:

Will be uploading a video soon. My other robotic videos are on:

Project looks cool, especially with the blueish leds. Are they blue or IR (IR shows up in some cameras) One question. Where can I get vb software for a PC. Is it free? Thanks.

Free versions of Microsoft programming software are available here:

    Visual Studio Express Developer Center

I would recommend the 2005 versions, not the 2008 Beta.

    Hi guys,

I will upload the schematics, drawing and code soon. I am still trying to perfect the PID controller code for object tracking using a GP2D12 sensor. In the meantime, here're some closeup shots of the robot.

I've put together a webapge for the robot construction and design details for those interested. Beginners might find this useful:
