How would you data log on a basic stamp when it was not connected to a computer and was on a robot and it was roaming and you wanted the raw data?

Parallax sells the memory stick data logger http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=27937
And I sell the SD Data Logger http://www.hittconsulting.com/products/sddatalogger/

I would suggest you read over the manuals and see which one best fits your application.

    pokemaster32--

I do not have the Parallax part. I do have Bean's machine. It works very well indeed, as I am sure the Parallax part does.

I will probably get the Parallax device as well.

It should also be mentioned that you can log data on the Stamp itself, quite a bit of it if you have the BS2pe with its extra memory slots. To offload the data you can use the serial port to a PC running Hyperterminal or one of the products from Selmaware.

The advantage of the external cards is that you can store a lot, lot more data, and you can carry the card to your PC reader and retrieve the file very fast and effortlessly. I like Bean's SD datalogger because of its easy one wire serin/serout connection to the Stamp, and its streamlined instruction set. I haven't tried the FTDI/Parallax interface, but it appears to have a more flexible interface and more capabilities, at the expense of complexity
    (i.e., learning curve).
