Hitachi H48C TriAxis Accelerometer Module, SPI, or I2C?

I am a little confused with the Hitachi H48C TriAxis Accelerometer. The data sheet for the ADC says it uses SPI but the module uses a bidirectional data line so it makes me think it is more like I2C. My only guess is that the input and output data lines are connected to one pin. Is this correct?
·Thanks,

SPI can use a bidirectional data line if it's well defined when data is to be received and when it is to be sent by the module. I assume there's an internal resistor in the output data line from the ADC to protect against programming errors (with two outputs in opposite states connected together), but that otherwise they're (input and output) connected together.
