Pin broke off PWMPAL

Yesterday I was attempting to get my new pwmpal working so I inserted it and the stamp onto my boe-bot as the directions say.· I was unable to get a good connection to·the stamp so I inserted the pwmpal into the boe's breadboard.· When·I went to remove it, it didn't come out straight and as a result pin 15 was severely bent.· I tried to bend it back but it snapped off.(only the·thin metal piece not·the whole pin on the underside)·shakehead.gifcry.gif What should I do? confused.gif

I was thinking that I should take one of the jumper wires from the bot kit and solder it to where the pin broke off (obviously I would cut the excess off).· The only problem with this is that am not so great at soldering, and think that I might mess it up.· Are there any other ways?· confused.gif

If I have to purchase another one (because I can't fix the one I have) I think that I would rather buy an SX chip and SX blitz, because I could use them for other purposes later.·1) Is there anothing else that I·would need? 2) Does anybody have code similar (or identical) to that of the pwmpal or is that guarded?(I have not used an SX before, but I wouild like to head that·way)·

Note:·I know that the pwmpal saves space but it also eats up 8 I/O pins, so (as I tried) I would rather mount it apart from the stamp (I know the connections from a previous post.)

I greatly·thank anybody who can help me, and am sorry for the lengthy post, but I want to get my whole story out.

P.S. Was something wrong yesterday around this time because I wasn't able to post then?

Do a search for Bean's 16 channel PWM code for the SX28. It works pretty well, and gives you 16 PWM channels instead of 4.

I would love to change the world, but they won't give me the source code

People say that if you play Microsoft CD's backwards, you hear satanic things, but that's nothing, because if you play them forwards, they install Windows.

I spent a minute looking at my own code by accident. I was thinking "What the heck is this guy doing?"

First, thanks for the help.· Second, what I found was your code from this thread: http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=619295.· Is this what you were talking about?· By the way, I am not quite ready to ditch my pwmpal yet.· (Nobody said I was, but I just want to be clear.)

Thants not the original thread, just one I posted after having some problems. But, the file PWM16.sxb is the original file, written by Terry (Bean). As far as repairing the original pwmpal, I'm not sure I world try repairing the pin. You might try asking Parallax to repair it.

To fix your device place it in a DIP socket preferably 'Turned Pin' type - you only have to solder the 'broken stump' to the socket ...or if the pins are too thick to fit in the socket - bring them all to the same length and solder them all to the socket..

    As good as new.

    Regards,
    John

Thanks Craig.···Does anybody from Parallax have a rough·estimate or is it more than the part itself?

John, I like your idea.· Because it is pin 15 it should be easibly reachable from the side to solder.· One question- are the pin on the bottom·usually .1 in apart as on the top,·so it could be placed in a breadboard or where it is supposed to go?
