Hi

I would like to use my stamp to turn on and off sprinklers.· Has anyone done this with a SSR relay?· If so, can you say how you did it?· I am a beginner, so if you can· provide the details, I would really appreciate that.

Steve

Sprinklers normally use low voltage (like 24VAC). You would need an SSR rated for 24V and about 1/2A per valve (wired in parallel). The input side of any SSR is usually an LED, often with its own current limiting resistor. You ought to be able to connect most SSRs directly to a Stamp I/O pin.

Here's a drawing of one "control circuit". Typically in a sprinkler system you'd have several of these and there would be anywhere from one to several valves controlled by one "circuit". Each "circuit" would have an independent time setting ... in this case - controlled by a separate I/O pin of the Stamp. The 24VAC side of the circuit is completely isolated from the Stamp side of the circuit (as it would be if you were switching 110VAC). You'll need a 24VAC transformer that can handle the load of all the valves that would be on at the same time.

I'm not sure if this would work for you but maybe look into the RC-4 Relay Control Board
