Weight of the SumoBot

I'm considering buying the SumoBot competition kit but intend to modify the bots. Just so I know what kind of room I''ll have to play with, I'd like to know how much they weigh, otherwise I may need to create my own from scratch.

Anyone with one of these and a small weighing scale on this forum? :)

Gr,
Mightor

I'm also keen to know what the sizes are of the PCB used in the SumoBot. I poured through the available docs, but I could find nothing. The reason I'd like to know is that due to the rather high handling and shipping costs the only reseller in the Netherland charges, I'd like to order two of the Propeller Proto Boards at the same time I get my Sumo kit and eventually replace the SumoBoards with them. I know I will have to do some modification of the frame to make it work. I read that the Prop Proto Board is 101.6mm by 77.5mm, that's pretty much within the size limits for mini-sumo if I mount the board at a little bit of an angle.

    Thanks in advance,
    Xander

That probably includes all the packaging and stuff :) I wanted to know how much the actual bot itself weighs :)

    Thanks for checking though!

My boe bot weighs about 300g without batteries, so I imagine the sumobot would be pretty close. 4 AA's or a 5 cell rechargeable ~1000mAh pack weighs about 100g so that leaves 100g left from the 500g limit. The BOE also looks like it would weigh about the same as a protoboard since they are the same size (actually, the protoboard doesnt have a breadboard, so it would be less).

    Hi Mightor,

I just weighted a built-up SumoBot from the Competition Kit with 4AA alkaline batteries: just under 0.8 lbs or just under 0.36 kg.
The pcb is 76 mm square, with the DB9 serial connector projecting about 5mm off the back.
The whole footprint with scoops and wheels is 10 cm square, and with untrimmed IR receiver leads stands under 10 cm tall.
The SumoBoard is available separately from the entire kit for $99 (555-27400) and the sensors can be bought individually as well, and the books are free downloads.

Whichever way you decide to go, have fun with it!

Thanks a lot for checking all that stuff out for me. Is there any chance the docs pertaining to the Bot and the Board could be amended to include this very useful info? I can't be the first person to have wondered about these things :)

    Hi Mightor,

Actually, I will have this information added right to SumoBot product pages, so one does not have to download documentation to find it.· I'm sorry you had to wait for it!

Are you going to add information about the weight, height, etc of the boe bot and other bots too?

    Hello Megaman935,

I suppose I could put that on my to-do list; is there one in particular that you need to know about right away?·
