Sorry, to bother you again, but after I finally installed the FTDI driver this morning, the BASIC stamp editor displayed 4 COM ports one of which was invalid.{the installation added one valid COM port}· My stamp was connected to one of the valid ones and it communicated successfully.··A short time ago I went to download a program to my stamp, but the formerly valid USB (COM with the driver) was designated invalid along with another formerly valid port.· Any advice would be greatly appreciated.· Thank You in advance.

Now, after I think I uninstalled the driver (I opened the exe file that said ftdiunin.exe) the identify window designates the formerly "valid" then "invalid" port as "can't open." The reason I tried to uninstall the driver was because the port wasn't valid and I was trying to reinstall it. I can't figure out how to reinstall it. I tried to use the new hardwarew wizard, but my stamp wasn't found. {Originally I was told how to do this by Chris Savage in the following forum: http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=5&m=202566} Has anybody had a problem like this before?

Check on the FTDI website…There is a utility for completely removing the drivers from your system. There is a link to the utility in a previous post I made…I will post it below. Take care.

Specifics of using the utility are listed in part of the procedure at the following page...

Thanks again Chris for all your help.· A couple of days ago I decided to put that computer in storage and use my other because it was constantly giving me trouble.· On the plus side, your information will be invaluable to me if I decide to resurrect the thing.
