USB TO SERIAL ADAPTER(need help)

I have a BasicStamp 2 Homework board rev d and I'm trying to get the basic stamp editor 2.3 identify it but i have a Serial to USB adapter. When i go into run and identify it does not identify my board! Can somone help me?!confused.gif

    Hello,

    What brand is the USB to Serial Adapter? Are you able to measure the voltage going into the board?

    The adaptor is made by Dynex and the battery i'm using is 9v

    Chase,

    Make sure the USB to Serial cable's driver is installed. If it isn't the system will most likely not recognize the device.
    Click on your Windows START in the lower left corner of your screen,·then click CONTROL PANEL,·then click ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS,·then click COMPUTER MANAGEMENT,·and finally click DEVICE MANAGER.

    While in DEVICE MANAGER, scroll down to PORTS (COM & LPT), if it isn't already open, click the + symbol and open the tree view. This area lists all of your available ports. Your USB to Serial cable should be listed and a port assigned to it. If it is not then reinstall the cable's driver(s) by rerunning the software and check again. If it is there take note of the port number.

    Make certain your battery is attached properly to the Homework Board. Now perform your IDENTIFY.

    The cable i bought did not come with a driver installlation CD.
