Stamp controlled Car for Health care
Hi Folks,
· Just finished up a small electric car that some Occupational Therapists use in training kids to use mobility aids.
·· This car ( #4 in a series I've worked on as a volunteer with the TETRA Society) uses a Stamp to control the two drive motors (via an HB-25 controller) and the steering which was motorized via a Black and Decker motorized woodworking clamp.
·· The controls are integrated into an 8-position joystick and a maximum speed can be set by a pot located under the hood. The normal Forward-Reverse switch on the car was rewired as an emergency stop switch and the car also has a radio-controlled panic switch for when the kids are using the car independently. The joystick will normally be mounted with industrial velcro in a location suitable to the user.
·· An EnT controller board was used to hold the Stamp, HB-25 and other miscellaneous bits.
· Theres a·few pics and the Stamp program included here. A short video is here: http://www.siskconsult.com/elcar.wmv

· TETRA is only one volunteer organization that can use Stampers' skills!
·· I got the clamp at the Black and Decker outlet store in Kittery, Maine, only about $14-$15. Once you open it up, it really is a fine piece of work: 6-volt motor, attached planetary gearset, timing belt drive, steel frame and a drive wheel to turn the threaded rod.
· I've attached a pic of the clamp before hacking it and a second pic of the stripped unit mounted underneath the Jeep. The yellow shaft is the original steering shaft of the little car.
· Cheers,
Tom
