programming old basic stamps

I have a number of original stamps (a few are still working in projects) I would like to program them.
I have the latest software and the serial programming adapter. when I connect to program the software
sez can not program v1.1. contact parallax... so do I have to boot in dos and use the old parallel deal?

Bill,

If these are BS1 Modules then they must be programmed using the serial interface. The Parallel interface is not supported on Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista. Please see the following link for more information. Take care.

Thanks for the quick respond. I have only one old stamp that will not program. (after I tried some more)
It has a year older date code.
PIC 16c56-xt/p 9239 ... I am using editor V2.3 and the serial cable and adapter. It works on the ones with
date code 9318 and sez the firmware is v1.4 on them. On the one that don't work it sez cant program v1.1
