PWMPAL mounting

Could the PWMPAL be mounted alongside a BASIC Stamp, SX, or Propeller and just be connected to pin 0, Ground and Vdd.

Basically,
1) Is it compatible·with Parallax's other microcontrollers?
2)The necessary·connections are PIN 0, Vss and, Vdd(5V), right?

You should be able to mount the PWMPAL separately with just power and pin 0 for the serial input as you suggest.

You should be able to use the PWMPAL with the SX as is. With a Propeller, you'll need some kind of level conversion for the serial line since it's a bidirectional serial line. A 1K series resistor should work, but sometimes there's other circuitry (on the PWMPAL in this case) that might interfere. With the Propeller's multiprocessing, the functions of a PWMPAL are easily replaced by the Propeller itself. There are several servo drivers in the Propeller Object Exchange that can do this.

I didn't think of the propeller as a replacement, but it could easily do everything the PWMPAL does. The SX would need one pin connected to pin 0 of the PWMPAL(Vss and Vdd to the PWMPAL), correct?

They would need to be run off the same power supply unless their Vss pins were connected, right?

Thanks for your help, it seemed like it would work, but I wanted to get another opinion.

Thnaks for noticing that.· I'm sure that I would spend a lot of time trying to find the problem.
