Closed-State Solenoid Valve (Cheap)

I'm having trouble looking for a normally closed, 12 VDC solenoid valve online. We have a bunch of them in class that costed us only 5-6 dollars a peice. Online, though, on all of the major sites (I'm talking mcmaster, granger, surplus center), they go for astronomically higher. The valves will be used for very low pressure water that simply needs to flow from a reservoir to a collecting tank to balance out salinity. Does anyone have any good sources I can look to?

See if this will work for you. If not search for laboratory tubing valves which sound more like what you need.

Do you get the sort used on Automotive fuel lines. Our local Motor Spare Shops sell them for about SAR20.00 or under US$3.00. Our local ones are made in China and India. They're very reliable and can operated from about 9V to 15V continiously. They are usually manufactured from Brass or Gun Metal though I've now seen some good plastic models. they're used in the (after market) Anti-Hijacking equipment that is fitted to most motor cars in South Africa.

    Good Luck
