Futurlec.

All prices are very reasonable.
Some examples:

MP3 Mini Board - $20.90
Single Green 4.0" CC 7-Segment LED Display - $6.90
100ohm 4 Resistor Network - $0.15
Keypad Mini Board - $4.90 !!
SD/MMC Mini Board - $6.90

I was impressed.
Has anyone had dealings with this company?

I've purchased items from them this year. Except for one
instance, I've been reasonably satisfied. Prices are good
but delivery leaves a lot to be desired.

Be aware that they don't tell you if a part is out of stock.

The one bad experience I had involved this gotcha. After
waiting for a month and not seeing my order delivered,
I emailed them and was advised that one item in my order
wasn't in stock. I then asked them to ship the order minus
the out of stock part.

The order eventually arrived, 9 weeks after placing the order.
They also want to be paid when the order is placed. That leaves
little incentive for them to assist in tracing where the shipment
may be at any particular time.

Even for a standard order, delivery can take 4 weeks or more.

Their office is in Australia and they ship from a warehouse in
China.

I've used them twice. They are great if you are not in a big hurry. Easy to use web site. They have excellent prices on pots.

Thanks guys, that would explain the prices.

The lead time is well outside my "gratification" window.

I found them reasonable and they actually have some ICs from Dallas and Maxim that are hard to get elsewhere. Also, they make printed circuit boards in small runs for very reasonable prices using Eagle software and Gerber files.· My order was filled in Thailand.

I ordered from them once with no problems.

But they seem to have a less than stellar rating at ResellerRatings.com

I ordered a 16x32 LED display for very cheap price (everything incl shipping for under $20). I thought I could not go wrong. However, the specification guide was in THAI language. I have been able to figure out how to get it to work with both an SX28 and a BS2 but I'm about 50/50 on ordering from them again. Prices are great but...

I wouldn't mind playing with one of these http://www.futurlec.com/Mini_DC_Motor.shtml
Would be great for developing "closed loop" control code.

I've ordered from them in the past. There's EXTREMELY long wait times to get orders, I've waited 3-4 weeks for orders before. The prices are great, but the timeframe for orders was unacceptable.

I wonder what the cause of the shipping delay is.
Do they send orders over seas and then build the item.
Or maybe it takes that long for a boat to cross the ocean.
4 to 8 weeks, probably both :)

I just received an order from them friday. And now I know I will never use them again. It took almost 3 weeks and I ended up getting the wrong parts (ordered female headers, received male) I emailed them about their mistake, their reply wasthat they'd ship out replacements right away, ok fine. But today I just noticed a charge on my credit card from them! They charged me for the replacement parts!

Am I wrong to expect them to fix their mistake at no charge to me?? I did offer to send the wrong parts back to them. But I received no response as of yet. Seems like a great way for a company to get rid of excess stock, just send people the wrong stuff, and then charge them again when you send them the right stuff.

I received some mislabeled parts from Digi-key before and they shipped me the replacements right away at no charge, and they emailed me a prepaid UPS label to put on the box to return the wrong parts at no cost to me.

BTW... someone asked where they ship from, the return address is Bangkok, Thailand

Sorry for the rant, if if it helps others to not get the same treatment I received......

I would suggest contacting your credit card company about
Futurlec sending you the wrong parts. Don't pay for their
mistakes.

Having had to deal with their Customer 'Service' department,
I can sympathize with your frustration.
